25 de Mayo

Hola Family! :D

What a cool week! So I've realized that every week we've been able to do some kind of service, and give some sort of priesthood blessing. It really is the coolest thing to go out and to serve these people one, with our hands and then two, with the gift of the Priesthood, and God's power. We stopped by an elderly lady, who's less active. She's been going through a rough time, and has been feeling really sick lately. So we stopped by and I offered that we give her a blessing, and she accepted and then later asked me to give it! It's just the coolest feeling, and I felt content that what I said really were the words of God as He gave her that blessing. It's the coolest feeling, knowing I'm being used as an instrument of God to help others. She was crying and I knew she felt God's indescribably love for her. It was really great :)

We've been working a ton with the less active members! We found a lot contacting that we had no idea even were less active! We've been stopping by, and sharing the scriptures and praying with them. Some have been sick and would humbly accept us, and the spirit is always so strong when we speak to them.
I wanted to share kind of a bummy thing that happened this week. There is this lady, her name is Maria Rodriguez, that Elder Bravo and I found his last week here. Our first lesson with her, she accepted everything! She accepted our message! She had some tragedies in her life and the hope of the plan of salvation made her cry and rejoice to God. She accepted a date for baptism and gave the most humble prayer I think I've ever heard from an investigator! Then I don't know what happened. Every other day this transfer we would stop by and she'd shut her curtains and ignore us or she wasn't home. We kept going to visit and finally found her this week! On Monday night, she slammed the door in our face telling us she was busy, and later on in the week and told us she didn't want us coming back anymore and continued to slam the door in our face. I didn't understand how someone so humble could turn all the way around in  a full circle and be this upset with us. It is the strangest thing, I felt this love for her, even though she was so rude to us! I felt so sad that she is in this bitter state, where just a little while ago she was rejoicing in God's love and plan and glory. I know this gospel is a blessing, and it is the most heartbreaking thing when they reject it.

So Friday was 25 de Mayo! which is a holiday here in Argentina haha. It was an awesome day! The ward had this activity and we were invited! so we went and it was a huge success! 95 people went to the activity! and most of them were less active! It was really cool going out and talking to these people we've been visiting, in the church. All of the members were so friendly and talked to everyone as though they were best friends! There was a great spirit of fellowship that day :) I got to play a little ping pong and did alright, but it was fun! We left to get plates (we left them at our pench) for the food and they started while we left. So when we got there everyone was flipping out! haha like they were literally mad that we left! They were really worried there wouldn't be more food for us, so they dragged us around and helped us out. It just made me laugh since they were like yelling and scolding us over this meal :) I guess they must like us! We played a game after, boys against girls. It was funny! They threw us into it whenever there was a scripture task, and we blew it every time! One, it's Spanish, Two, the scriptures were always so random! But it was fun :) Working was kind of tough because of the holiday, but it was good to go out and work.
I sewed my pants! It looks so ugly but I did it! And it works :) I'm proud of myself, it should last a little longer now :)

So yesterday was really great! 82 people came to church!! Which is almost 30 more than average! They had to bless more water which hasn't happened in all the time I've been there :) It made me so happy to see all of these people :) We even had an investigator and tons of less active people there! It was so great!

Well I'm out of time again, But I love you guys so much! You're all in my prayers every day :)

A Great Week!

Hello family!! It's P-day again! :)

Ok! So on Tuesday we woke up at 5 o clock to travel to Pergamino and have zone conference there :) We got there an hour late for the meeting! We felt so dumb walking in haha. But they waited for us!
It was a great conference! I learned a lot. The coolest part (I thought) was President Giuliani, and what he said about how we need to have a better vision for our investigators. To not just see them in baptismal clothes but in temple clothes. So we need the faith that they will make greater covenants and receive greater blessings after their baptism. I thought that was really cool :) I felt the spirit really strong. He talked about temples, about the ´'everlasting covenant of marriage' and how important it is. He gave a super cool testimony about the importance of that, and how he's sealed to his wife forever. And how the relationship isn't perfect, but he's with her forever, and that he loves her. It was great! I realized that helping them to baptism is just the first step. Being a missionary is really great because we get to help with that first step! And guess who I saw at the conference! I saw Elder Butler there! [Steve works with Elder Butler's dad at the church]  It was funny because we just talked about him and then he was there haha. I took a picture with him! So maybe you can share that with his dad or something :)

The trips to and from zone conference were pretty good, we talked during the whole 3 hour drive! I should've slept though, I've been exhausted haha!

Wow! Happy Birthday Greg and Scarlett! and I forgot to say Happy Birthday to Jake Hunsaker! That's so cool though, I hope you all had great birthdays!! :D

It's been really interesting, we have been stopping by a lot of people. While contacting we found several less active members that we've never met or heard about! And we've been setting up appointments trying to work with them. I've been learning a lot about being a senior companion which helps a ton. I feel like my companion and I are both junior companions at times, so it has been pretty tough, but the zone leaders have talked to me a lot about how I need to act the senior companion since I know the area better. Although being senior or junior companion means nothing, I've been learning a lot as I try to work hard and try to be really effective without tearing down his 'authority' you can call it haha. It's been a neat learning experience, although it's pretty tough at times! My Spanish has significantly gone down though! all that speaking English... so I've been trying to keep learning instead of forgetting. I keep remembering words or phrases that I already knew but forgot!

Today was pretty cool, we got up and met at the church as a zone. We can't meet together super often which is disappointing! So this morning we played ultimate Frisbee which was awesome! I loved it! I was REALLY hoping to play some soccer as you know haha, I don't play hardly at all, but sadly no soccer today. Dang! :P haha but after that Elder Luna's shoe broke, so we went to his pench to fix it. While we were there someone from his area called us and invited us to an asado! And an asado is basically like a huge BBQ with lots of meat haha, so we went! And it was amazing! The best asado I've ever had! Just really rich meat haha I ate so much. You don't eat like that often as missionaries, so it was a nice surprise :) Afterward we watched "17 Miracles". I've watched that movie so many times hahaha but every time I do I just get chills, it's an amazing movie. I love it so much! So that's why it took so long for me to write home! Sorry!

I love you so much family! You really are the best. I pray for you all every day, and I hope you all see all of the amazing blessings we have, that God has given us. I know I am blind to many, but as I open my eyes and see them, I am amazed at how blessed I am! I know our Heavenly Father loves every single one of you. I know because I feel God's love for me, even when I feel like I don't deserve it. I also feel it for all of His children. I know Jesus Christ lives, and He loves us as well, enough to suffer pains we can't comprehend, and die for me, and you.

Happy Mothers Day!

Hello family!!! :D

WOW! I'm so happy I got to talk to everyone yesterday! You all sound so great! I hope it was a good Mothers Day for everyone :) I know it was awesome for me! Happy Mothers Day Mom!! :D

Oh boy KYLE BALCER!! I miss him so much!! It was so cool that he went over to our house yesterday! He's so funny, I love that guy so much!! Talking to him and Katherine was a really nice treat! I had an amazing time! I realized that I just talked super fast and crazy haha, I think I was just super stressed from the time limit, with the excitement to talk to everyone. I was talking like a crazy person! I really enjoyed your questions :) You all sound so awesome! I love you!

So something cool, You know how on Saturday we helped out with the baptism, and I had the opportunity to do the baptism? Well that morning we left to fill up the font. And I did it all by myself!  I lit the fire (I forgot what it's called :P like the water heater or something?) and our fire thingy is messed up. So I lit the fire and stuck the knife into a button so the fire wouldn't go out, went over and fixed everything until hot water came out. WOW I just looked back and read that, and I'm not making any sense! But I filled the font by myself with a bummy water heater. Pat on the back :)

Yesterday was really neat! So we got to church and almost 60 went, which was pretty good! 3 less active members came and even an investigator came! That was so cool! And then we took the sacrament :) I love taking the sacrament, I really feel so great after I do, it's a spiritual boost. I know it's not only necessary, but that we need to take it every week. To remember our Savior and to have His Spirit to help us.

I saw some prom pictures of Dallyn!! WOW You're beautiful! Way to go! haha sounds like you had a fun time!

Earlier this week we went on divisions and so I was with Elder Stout, the new Zone Leader. It was really good! We talked a lot haha which was really fun, and we worked a lot as well. He's a really cool guy! We've been doing a lot of contacts lately :P Still trying to find people! We are going to go back to visit some pretty cool people we've found.

Well Idk what more to say! I feel like I talked so much yesterday already haha! But I love you all so much! Dang it was so good to talk to all of you :) That was so great! Anything I can do for you? I'm still here! Happy Mothers Day again! I love you Mom! :)

An Interesting Week!

 Hello my family!!

So this week has been really interesting, the weekend was probably the most interesting!  I get to call on Sunday!! I'm so excited for that! I love Mothers
Day :) I'm planning at calling you guys at 4, after you have church. I love you!

Well, things with my companion are really different like I've said before haha. But it's also been good. I've been more confident with my speaking and more outgoing with the members and contacts and investigators. And I also found out that he is related to Charlie Sheen! Turns out they are like 3rd cousins or something haha. We talk a lot, well he talks a lot haha we get talking on one subject and he can go on for HOURS haha, like sometimes we go to sleep late because the second we end planning he just goes off and talks until we need to sleep! It's really entertaining, like listening to an audiobook or something haha, he tells me about TV show ideas he has, his favorite anime shows, favorite books and movies. I've even written some down to remember because they sound so interesting! haha.

I guess Argentina is like starting to go into a depression. It's depressing :P Like everything is being raised in prices and people don't have enough to pay! So we'll see how that goes. Hopefully it doesn't get too crazy, my biggest concern is the food haha. I've been trying to eat fruit every day with everything haha. I've been eating a lot more this past week, which may be good, I'll ask my belly in a few months haha.

It was funny, I got some 'Dear Elder' letters from Dallyn and Trestyn and Katherine, And I feel like I have 4 moms! Everyone says 'are you eating good? are you ok? make sure you're healthy and working hard!' kind of thing, it made me laugh haha but it was nice to have so many people worry for me and care, and try to help. I love you guys!

Can you send me some pictures of Aunt Carrie? Everyone always asks haha after I tell the story, thanks!

Well, this week we've been going by a lot of members and planning for this activity we had. We worked with the hermanas to do this, and it was pretty successful I thought! I had a lot of fun there as well. We had a night of culture and talents, and it was neat to see some of the things people did! The two biggest stars were Hermana Ilsa Puck, a German lady in our branch, and Elder Luna, our Mexican Zone Leader haha. They brought a ton of stuff from their countries. Hermana Puck is an awesome person, she was baptized 40 years ago, and goes to church every Sunday by herself, and has done that all of her life. Nobody in her family are members. She's gone through the temple and goes whenever possible (the last time they went to Uruguay because the Buenos Aires temple was closed, but it will open in September!). She's just a rock star. She even stopped by some less active members and invited them to the activity! Without us saying anything to her! I took a lot of videos, I wish you could see them all! It'll have to be the next time I send my card home I guess!

On Sunday, Elder Luna wanted to take me to Hughes (pronounced ooges haha), a little city that's part of his area. So we woke up early to have divisions with him. We were walking when we got the call that they were about to leave. So in a full suit and things, we ran all the way across to the other side of our area to catch the bus haha. And that's what happened Sunday morning! then we traveled for an hour or so until we got to Hughes. We went to their church building, which ended up being like a 3 room old home, when Elder Luna found out he lost his phone, and left it on the bus. So he was flipping out, we went to visit an investigator of his, and he wasn't home to go to church. It just seemed like the morning was super crazy. At church during the sacrament, I had the opportunity to pass, and I was really touched by a lot of the members. 20 came, and half were little kids from the area. Some could only come for sacrament, and for whatever reason couldn't even take it, but came anyway to be there. I felt touched, and it felt great to exercise the Priesthood. I also gave a blessing to an elderly lady who was sick, my first in Spanish not to my comp! I felt the spirit, and the love of God for these faithful members. During testimony meeting I went up and bore my testimony. Then Elder Luna went up and gave a powerful testimony. He talked about the spirit that converted him, how his family rejected him. Like 8 months later he got his mission call to leave after a year of membership. Then he got in a car accident, where they put 9 screws in him, and he couldn't walk for months after that. He got a blessing and was able to walk and go into the MTC to serve. He still feels the pain in his body from the accident. On Mothers Day and Christmas he called home and nobody answered. He has gone through tremendous sacrifice to be here, and he's grown to be one of my closest friends here on my mission. I'm so blessed :)

Last thing I'd like to say really quick , yesterday we stopped by a less active lady who has been really struggling lately. Her husband wants a divorce (he isn't a member) and she was wondering what to do. We stopped by and her son said they couldn't talk when she ran out and grabbed us and we sat outside and had a lesson. We listened to her talk about her trials, and I found myself crying with her as she cried, as she described her difficulty. I listened and shared what I thought was the best thing I could. It felt great to be there in that moment and listen to a struggling daughter of God in need. I was really touched and realized I understood everything she said, and she understood me. It was a little miracle, and I learned a lot. God loves His children so much! The greatest feeling of the mission is helping someone to feel that love, and see them act on it. I know God loves us :) and wants us to do all we can, so He can bless us. And that was my joy in that moment.

Les amo, you're always in my prayers!
